The Duchess of Cornwall is to be patron of Roald Dahl 100

The Duchess began her new role with a visit to London’s Southbank Centre, which has just launched an interactive experience, THE WONDERCRUMP WORLD OF ROALD DAHL, created in partnership with the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, and featuring archival treasures from The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden. 

2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl. There will be celebrations for Roald Dahl 100 throughout 2016, delivering a year packed with gloriumptious treats and squiffling surprises for everyone:

·      Publishing highlights include THE GREAT MOUSE PLOT (Puffin, March), LOVE FROM BOY: ROALD DAHL’S LETTERS TO HIS MOTHER (John Murray, June) and THE OXFORD ROALD DAHL DICTIONARY (Oxford University Press, June). 
·      In May, the Hay Festival of Literature will celebrate Roald Dahl 100 with a special range of programming.
·      July 2016 sees two major exhibitions of Sir Quentin Blake’s art - at The House of Illustration in London and the National Museum Cardiff.
·      July also sees the global release of the big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s THE BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg.
·      On September 13th – Roald Dahl’s birthday - schools, libraries, bookshops and community groups across the world will join in the biggest ever celebration of Roald Dahl Day. 
·      Over the weekend of September 17th/18th, Roald Dahl’s birthplace Cardiff will be transformed into the CITY OF THE UNEXPECTED. 
·      The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden is taking a year-long journey exploring Roald Dahl’s stories, characters and life with themed events every weekend in 2016.
·      In December, a new animation of Roald Dahl’s REVOLTING RHYMES from award-winning Magic Light Pictures will debut on the BBC.
