Nikolay Stoyanov (born in 1948 in Karlovo) is the author of fifteen books amongst which the story and novella collections ‘Night Connection’, ‘Neighbourhood Chronicles’, ‘Book with no Covers’, ‘Transition Visa’, ‘The French Room’, ‘Autumn Novellas’. Four of Nikolay’s screenplays have been adapted into four feature films broadcasted on television. Nikolay has also written many radio plays.
Nikolay has translated from the French work by Patrick Modiano, Francoise Sagan, Georges-Olivier Chateaureynaud.
Nikolay’s books have been published in France, Germany, Italy, Albania, Serbia, Romania, South Korea and Macedonia.
Nikolay is the founder and chairman of the Multinational Foundation Balkanika which annually gives the literary title to one Balkan people. For that reason, the prize is also known as the Balkan Nobel.
Nikolay has won the Vasov Award, the European Poetic Prose Award, and the Paris-Europe Award, given to him in 2005 by the Parisian municipality and the EU for overall contribution to the culture of United Europe.
