Janet MacLeod Trotter is born in the family of Scots in North England. She has four brothers. Graduated the university of Edinburgh. Worked as an editor for a magazine and a columnist for Newcastle Journal. Her short stories are published in a lot of ladies' magazines. When she was 18 years old she went on a trip to Kathmandu and as a result of that appears her first criminal novel - The Vanishing of Ruth. She is an author of 21 books, a lot of them entered the bestseller charts of The New York Times, The Sunday Times and Amazon. The Tea Planter's Daughter receives a nomination for Best romantic novel of the year in 2008.
